How to Avoid These Common Mistakes In Online Dating Photos

Online Dating Photo Mistake #1 - Terrible Fashion

This is actually very easy to fix and doesn’t require a big budget. Read my guide on tinder photos fashion makeover. Most guys way overestimate their sense of fashion so you definitely put some serious efforts into this.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #2 - Nervous Body Language

Your body language is a reflection of how you feel inside. If you are feeling awkward, your body language will show that, If you are feeling timid, it will show. You get the idea.

Most guys have the wrong approach to having a good body language. I’ve had a lot of clients who asked me if I could coach them on poses during the shoot. But this is actually counter productive. If you try to pose, you will likely look robotic and try hard.

So how do we get the best body language that portrays you as someone confident, dominant and relaxed? Well easy. For starters, forget every cool modelling poses and tricks you’ve learned. None of that shit is gonna work unless you are feeling relaxed and grounded first.

Don’t rush the process and forget about taking photos. Tell your photographer to put away the camera for now and turn your attention inward first. Slow down your thoughts, focus your attention on your breathing and try to connect with your body more.

Look around and check out the scenery around you, look at the pretty girls walking by, whatever that works to quiet your mind. You know you are getting in the zone when your body starts to feel heavy and rooted on the ground and you feel a nice warm buzz inside your body.

This process may take anywhere from 5 mins to an hour. I will have a detailed guide on this soon.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #3 - Weird Facial Expressions

The root cause and solution is the same as previous.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #4 - Trashy Background

Give the creative control to your photographer (if they are good of course) and avoid taking photos at ugly places. Your background should communicate that you have a high value lifestyle. I will have a detailed guide on choosing backgrounds soon.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #5 - Harsh Shadows/Bright Spots on Face

Sunny days can be good for tinder photos if your photographer is good. But to be safe aim for cloudy days for more diffused/flattering lighting.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #6 - Too Try Hard

Show your best qualities and angles/sides but don’t over compensate. No need to flex in front of a car or put on some fake jewelry to make them like you more.

Focus on communicating your personalities and characters with your photos not processions. Show them how they will feel around you.

If you have a great body, don’t use gym/mirror photos. Have a photo of you doing some water/beach sports where you are topless would be way better.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #7 - Cute Filters

Just don’t do it....

Online Dating Photo Mistake #8 - Obvious/Bad Photoshop

Chill out with the airbrushes. If you are using apps like facetune avoid just slapping on a preset or clicking an auto edit button. These presets are usually too heavy handed.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #9 - Big Group Photos

Don’t put a big group photo where you are tiny and blended in the group. A photo of you doing some cool activity with 2-3 other friends is ok.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #10 - Photos with Ex/One Girl

I think having photos where you are at a social function with attractive WOMEN is ok. If it’s a photo with just one girl it’s gonna raise concerns. You will lose potential matches and get asked about it a lot.

Online Dating Photo Mistake #11 - Very Old Photos

Obviously the fix is to take new photos. If you have friends who take good of you do that. If they all suck then hire a good portrait photographer. (Make sure the photographer can provide a great portrait portfolio before you decide to hire them)
